Much of sub-Saharan Africa and tropical South America. Required for entry by some countries, only if transiting a risk country for others, which is what catches people out on connecting flights.
Our most-asked question. Depends on your route and where you've been, and it changes. Bring your full itinerary, transit stops included.
Often required if arriving from or transiting a risk country, not if flying direct. Route matters, not destination.
Yellow fever doesn't occur in Asia. Only matters if arriving from a risk country, which is why African transits trigger the question.
Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia and others. Requirements vary by region, not just by country.
Required for Saudi Arabia arrivals from risk countries, alongside the meningitis requirement.
What is included? The travel assessment, the vaccine, and your International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis. No separate certificate fee and no separate consultation fee.
Most people travelling to a yellow fever country need two or three of these. Having them assessed together in one appointment is both cheaper in time and safer, because the intervals between doses matter.
For most travellers, life.
Under current international rules, a single dose of yellow fever vaccine is considered to give lifelong protection, and a certificate issued from 2016 onward does not expire. The old ten-year renewal requirement was removed.
So does the yellow fever vaccine expire? The certificate does not. If you were vaccinated years ago and your certificate says it expires after ten years, it is still valid because the change was applied retrospectively. Bring it, and we will check rather than revaccinate you.
A small number of people are advised to have a booster, including some who were vaccinated while pregnant, while immunosuppressed, or as very young children. The assessment establishes whether that applies to you.
When it starts working. Ten days after the injection, which is also when the certificate becomes valid. Those two dates are the same date, and it is the one to plan around.
