The treatment is a corticosteroid given by injection. It's used in a limited number of cases of severe seasonal allergic rhinitis, where standard treatments haven't done enough to bring symptoms down.
The active ingredient is triamcinolone, a corticosteroid. It works by calming the inflammation your immune system produces when it reacts to pollen. As a prescription-only medicine, it can only be given after a doctor has reviewed your case in person.
Your visit begins with a proper conversation with one of our doctors covering what your symptoms are, how long they've been troubling you, which treatments you've already worked through, and your wider medical history. From there, the doctor carries out a clinical assessment to decide whether the injection is right for you.
If it is, it can often be given there and then. The injection itself takes only a moment, and you'll be kept under observation briefly afterwards as a standard safety measure. If it isn't the right call, you'll leave with alternative options to consider instead.
