Why Leicester Patients Choose Our Clinic

While the NHS provides excellent care, many patients experience extended wait times for appointments. Our clinics provide accessible and affordable care, so you can get same-day GP appointments without the wait. We have highly experienced GPs in Leicester who can diagnose, treat, and manage all the conditions you’d expect your NHS doctor to handle.

Our doctors take the time you need, with no strict time limits and none of the rushed 10-minute appointments common in the NHS. All consultations are with GMC-registered GPs with years of NHS experience, so you’re getting the same quality of care, just faster.

We believe good healthcare starts with listening. Our doctors take the time to properly understand your concerns, explain your options clearly, and support you. Whether it’s for an urgent illness, a long-term condition, blood tests, or a specialist referral.

Private GP consultation in Leicester

You’ll find us right in the heart of Leicester on Princess Road West, opposite the Holiday Inn and around 30 seconds from Leicester Cathedral.

Getting here:

From Leicester Station: Exit onto London Road, walk toward the city centre, turn right onto Princess Road West. It takes about 5 minutes.
From Highcross: Walk down toward the Clock Tower, then head toward the Cathedral. We're just past it.
From DMU: Cross Newarke Street (you can see us from the Clephan Building). 2-minute walk.
Driving: On-street parking outside, or the NCP on Duke Street is £2.50 for 2 hours.

Our service is ideal for:

Same-day or next-day GP appointments when your NHS GP is fully booked.
Pre-employment medicals and visa examinations with tight deadlines.
Blood test results needed quickly (within 24-48 hours instead of 1-2 weeks).
Second opinions on diagnoses or treatment plans.
Private referrals to specialists to avoid 6-12 month NHS waiting lists
Travel health consultations and vaccinations before last-minute trips.

We work alongside the NHS, not instead of it. Most patients remain registered with their NHS GP and use our services when time-sensitive care is needed.

What Happens at Your Privater GP Appointment

We know visiting a private clinic for the first time can feel a bit uncertain. Here is what happens:

1. Before You Arrive

Arrive 5-10 minutes early (there's parking on Princess Road West—pay-and-display, but it's usually quiet). You may fill in a quick health questionnaire in our waiting area. Help yourself to tea, coffee, or water while you wait.

2. During Your Consultation

This isn't like an NHS appointment where you feel rushed. Our Leicester doctors will take time to listen. Here's what typically happens:

  • Your GP will ask about your symptoms, medical history, and what's been worrying you. Bring a list if it helps - we want to hear everything, not just your "main" concern.
  • Physical examination will be performed if required (chaperone always available if you want one). If you need blood tests, ECG, or spirometry etc. we'll do them right there, no separate appointments.
  • Your doctor will explain the outcome or diagnosis in plain English (no confusing medical jargon), discuss your options, and create a clear action plan. This may involve a prescription, referral, lifestyle advice, or just reassurance. Follow up appointments can be arranged if required - we’re with you every step of the management plan.

3. After You Leave

Immediately following the consultation, you'll get:

  • A written summary emailed to you - we recommend you share this with your NHS GP.
  • Prescriptions sent electronically directly to your phone. You can use this code at any local Leicester pharmacy (e.g Boots on Gallowtree Gate, Superdrug in Highcross, or wherever's convenient).
  • Any referral letters or test requests sorted.

Blood results? If you had blood tests, or one of our complete health screens, results are typically back within 24 hours. We email you a full report, with the GP’s breakdown of what everything means - follow up appointments are free & we'll call you to discuss results.

We can also share everything with your NHS GP (with your permission, of course) so there's to ensure continuity of care.

Vibrant Street of Leicester

Serving Patients Right Across Leicester & Leicestershire

We're based in the city centre, but patients visit us from all over Leicestershire. Here's how easy it is to reach us:

  • Leicester City Centre & Universities (Walking distance): If you're at DMU or University of Leicester, we're about 5 minutes walk from either campus. Popular with students who need same-day sick notes, mental health support, or sexual health testing without the 3-week wait at university health services.
  • Oadby & Wigston (10-15 minutes): Quick drive up the A6 (London Road). Parking's easy on Princess Road West.
  • Braunstone, Fosse & Western Park (10 minutes): Narborough Road takes you straight here. Or hop on a bus to the city centre—most routes stop within 5 minutes walk of us.
  • Clarendon Park & Stoneygate (5-10 minutes): You're just around the corner. We get many patients from Clarendon Park who walk or cycle over—it's quicker than waiting weeks for their NHS GP.
  • Market Harborough (20 minutes): Straight down the A6.
  • Loughborough (25 minutes): Direct A6 route. Especially handy for evening appointments (we're open until 7pm weekdays) if you can't take time off work during the day.
  • Melton Mowbray & Rutland (30 minutes): A607 brings you straight here.
  • Birstall, Thurmaston & Syston (15 minutes): Quick hop via the A46 or A607.
  • Belgrave & Rushey Mead (10 minutes): Short drive or bus journey. We've got multilingual support if English isn't your first language.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between you and an NHS GP?

The doctors are the same quality—all our Private GPs have worked in the NHS and are GMC-registered. The difference is convenience and unhurried consultations, with greater access to investigations and rapid results.

  • NHS appointment: Typically 2-3 week wait, 10 minutes with the doctor, then another 7-10 days for blood results.
  • Private appointment: Same-day access, no time-limit Private GP Consultation, blood results within 24 hours for most of the standard tests.

Expect the highest quality medical expertise, just without the wait. We have hundreds of 5 star reviews across multiple platforms.

Can I stay with my NHS GP and just use you occasionally?

Absolutely. That's what most patients do. They stay registered with their NHS GP for routine, continuous care but consult with us when they need something urgently—like blood tests, or a specialist referral that may take months or years on the NHS.

We're happy to share our findings with your NHS GP (with your permission) so there's no gap in your care.

What if I'm a student on a tight budget?

Phone consultations are £59 - we try to make all our appointment costs as affordable as possible. We see many students from University of Leicester and De Montfort University who may still be registered at the home address.

Do you do home visits?

Yes—£295 within 5 miles of Leicester city centre. Available 7 days a week. Our GP brings full medical equipment and can perform blood tests at your home if required.

Home visits available for non-emergency conditions only. For emergencies, call 999.

What happens if my blood results are abnormal?

If we identify any concerning results, we'll call you within 24-48 hours to discuss next steps. Follow-up appointments to discuss results are included at no extra charge. We'll create a clear management plan, which may include lifestyle changes, medication, further testing, or specialist referral. We can also share results with your NHS GP to ensure continuity of care.

Do I need health insurance?

No. Most patients pay directly (£59 - £95 depending on appointment type). If you have private insurance, please check your policy - most cover consultations and testing, most. We provide an invoice either way so you can claim your costs back.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

We endeavour to fit you in on the same day. We operate from 8am to 7pm weekdays, and Saturday mornings till 1pm.

For urgent appointments, please  call us on 0116 456 0583 and we'll prioritise you.

What about prescriptions?

Prescriptions are issued electronically, directly to you. This allows you to visit whichever Leicester pharmacy you choose. There is a small prescription charge £25 to cover the immediate electronic prescribing of your medication.

Where exactly are you?

36 Princess Road West in Leicester City Centre - opposite the Holiday Inn, near Leicester Cathedral. If you're at the Clock Tower, walk toward the Cathedral (away from Highcross), and we're on your left just past The Case pub.

From Leicester Station: Walk out onto London Road, head toward the city centre, turn right onto Princess Road West. 5 minutes.

What if I need emergency care?

If we identify that you need urgent medical attention, we'll provide immediate guidance and arrange the appropriate next steps.
  • For serious emergencies, we'll direct you to A&E or call 999.
  • For urgent but non-life-threatening situations, we can facilitate rapid access to emergency care services or urgent treatment centres.
  • Typical wait times for private urgent care appointments are often same-day or within 24-48 hours versus significantly longer waits through NHS urgent care pathways.
  • You can use private health insurance if you have it, or self-pay. We'll assess your situation carefully during your consultation and ensure you receive the right level of care at the right time.
