At Private Medical Clinic, our home visiting GPs take time to understand your concerns, carry out a thorough assessment in your environment, and agree a treatment plan that works for you. If further investigations or specialist care are needed, we co-ordinate the next steps, so you don't have to start again with a new provider.
When your GP arrives, they bring a portable medical kit and are fully prepared to carry out a comprehensive consultation and physical examination. They will take a detailed medical history, review your current medications, assess your symptoms, and agree the most appropriate next steps with you.
Depending on your clinical needs, your doctor may carry out blood tests and other investigations during the visit, write a private prescription, arrange specialist referrals, or provide a sick note, medical certificate, or fit-to-work certificate.
To make the most of your appointment, it helps to have the following ready:
More than most people expect. Our home visiting GPs bring portable diagnostic equipment and, in many cases, can begin treatment, take blood samples, or arrange urgent investigations during a single visit. You receive the same clinical quality you would in a Private GP appointment — without leaving home.
Important: Home visits are for non-emergency medical concerns. If you are experiencing chest pain, suspected stroke, difficulty breathing, or severe bleeding, call 999 immediately. Controlled drugs cannot be prescribed during a home visit.
Our private GPs can assess and treat a wide range of non-emergency health concerns during a home visit. Where clinically appropriate, your doctor will prescribe medication, arrange tests, or refer you for specialist care.
Private GP home visits suit any patient who would benefit from being assessed at home, or who finds travelling to a clinic impractical. Our service is a good fit if you:
Not sure whether a home visit or an Online GP Consultation would suit you better? Our team is happy to advise before you book.
Blood tests can be taken during your home visit in most cases. Your doctor brings the necessary equipment, takes a blood sample during the consultation, and samples are couriered directly to our laboratory with most results available within 24 hours. Available blood tests include:
Laboratory fees are charged separately from your home visit consultation fee. Your GP will advise on which tests are clinically appropriate before proceeding.
Our private GPs regularly visit hotel guests and business professionals across all eight of our clinic areas. Whether you're visiting the UK, are on a business trip, or simply prefer a consultation at your desk, we provide the same comprehensive clinical service — at your location.
Your private GP can issue prescriptions, sick notes, fit-to-work certificates, and medical certificates where clinically appropriate during your home visit. These are provided on the same day and can be sent digitally or by post.
Our elderly home visit GP service is designed for older adults, care home residents, and patients with mobility difficulties who require reliable medical care without the stress of travel. Our GPs are experienced in elderly care and take a patient, unhurried approach to every consultation.
We work with carers, family members, and care home staff to ensure continuity of care and can co-ordinate with your NHS GP where clinically appropriate. Ongoing home visiting arrangements can be discussed with our team.
We provide private GP home visits within approximately 30 minutes of each of our eight clinic locations. If you are outside our standard coverage area, please contact our team, visits further afield may be available subject to availability and a small travel surcharge.
Outside your area? Call 0208 050 0379 and our team will check availability for your location.
Simple, pay-as-you-go pricing with no hidden fees. Our home visit fee of £295 compares favourably with the UK private GP home visit market, where most providers charge £250–£500 depending on location and time of day.
All prices are pay-as-you-go. Private health insurance may cover some or all costs — check with your insurer before booking. Seeing a private GP does not affect your NHS registration or your right to NHS care.
Every home visit is carried out by a fully qualified, GMC-registered private GP with experience in both NHS and private practice. Our GPs are chosen for their clinical expertise and their ability to put patients at ease during a home consultation.
Your care doesn't end when your doctor leaves. If further treatment, investigations, or specialist input is needed, your GP will guide you through the next steps and help co-ordinate your ongoing care through PMC.

Patient Feedback & Experiences
Reviews from patients across our UK clinics.
A private GP home visit is a full medical consultation carried out by a GMC-registered private GP at your home, hotel, workplace, or care home. Your doctor will take a medical history, carry out a physical examination, and arrange any prescriptions, tests, or referrals you need. It offers the same clinical standard as a clinic appointment, without you needing to travel.
Same-day home visits are available in most of our coverage areas. Call our team before midday for the best chance of a same-day appointment. We'll confirm your doctor's expected arrival window at the time of booking.
We cover areas within approximately 30 minutes of each of our eight clinic locations: London, Birmingham, Derby, Leicester, Newcastle, Oxford, Sutton Coldfield, and Bournemouth. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, please call and we'll check availability.
